The Cavan Burren Park is located less than 15 minutes from our cottage. This Park is a Prehistoric Park overlooking Lough McNean and with un interrupted view of the Cuilcaigh Mountain. It has a new Interpretative Centre and over 5km of walking trails.
The Park is on the marked out “Cavan Way”. The “Cavan Burren” is identified as one of the finest integrated prehistoric landscapes in Ireland.
There is free admission and a large car-park.
It has natural geological features for an example a relic river bed (Giant’s Leap), the Calf House Dolmen and a Giant’s Grave It contains rocks that show the effects the Ice Age has on our countryside. A visit to the Cavan Burran Park, is a must for those studying history and geography. It also shows the effects modern farming and forestry has on our countryside.
